The C.F. Sauer Company was the first company in the United States to bottle and sell spices and extracts.
We are one of the last companies in America that still uses the cold press method of making extracts. Instead of using heat to accelerate the steeping process, we allow our Bourbon vanilla beans to release their flavor slowly without any shortcuts. We haven’t changed our recipe since 1887.
A Richmond landmark, the Sauer’s Vanilla sign is one of the few incandescently lighted signs remaining in the United States.
